Bechem United Early Decline : Bechem United were defeated for the fourth time this season by Accra Lions on Sunday during Week 6 of the Ghana Premier League.
Lions won by 1-0 at the home turf of Bechem United thanks to Frederick Asante’s solitary strike in the 44th minute.
The Hunters contended for the Premier League title for many weeks of last season and reached the FA Cup finals where they lost to Hearts of Oak.
However , the start of the of the 2022/23 season have been difficult for the former team of Augustine Okrah after losing four of their six league games so far. They have fallen to Great Olympics , Gold Stars , Karela United and now Accra Lions.
Bechem finished third in the 2021/22 season with a record of 13 wins , 15 draws and 6 defeats in 34 league matches but their bad start to the 2022/23 season means it will be difficult to replicate their impressive run of last term.
