Can this be the turning point for Hearts of Oak this season ?

Accra Hearts of Oak : Many expected Hearts of Oak to struggle against Asante Kotoko during the Ghana Premier League Super Clash of Sunday 5th March at the Accra sports stadium but the Phobians produced a great performance to defeat their rivals.

Konadu Yiadom’s 56th minute header was enough to get Hearts of Oak all the points and the the 2023 GHALCA President’s Cup.

“We had numerous chances but we failed to utilize but the opponent scored with their only chance and I say bravo to them (Hearts of Oak).

But we showed a good face and we did not have the chance to smile today. Again felicitations to Hearts. They played a very good football game , they played very well and to be honest there is nothing to say again” , Kotoko coach Seydou Zerbo said after the game.

Hearts of Oak were without their head coach Slavko Matic but assistant coach David Ocloo led the team to victory. The expatriate coach was prevented by some Phobian fans from taking charge of the team’s training at the Pobiman Training Complex last Friday.

Following Sunday’s performance that saw the likes of Linda Mtange , Konadu Yiadom , Caleb Amankwah , Amankwah Baafi , Eric Esso and co shine , many fans believe this could set the tone for the rest of the season for the Continental Club Masters.

The next five league matches of Hearts of Oak represent would be crucial ; an away game at Bibiani Gold Stars , a home fixture against Kotoku Royals , away game at Karela United , a home match versus Accra Lions and an away encounter against Dreams FC.

Out of the FA Cup this season already, the Ghana Premier League race is however not out of reach for the Phobians who are 5th on the league standings after 20 matches and just five points adrift league leaders Aduana Stars.
