Players of Division One Club threaten to boycott league after club’s CEO allegedly sold the GFA boots meant for the players

Unity FC CEO Accused of Selling Free GFA Boots : Players of Division One League side Ahafo Kenyasi Unity FC have threatened to boycott their league matches if the Chief Executive Officer of the club , , Richmond Osei , does not hand over the 30 pairs of soccer boots provided free of charge by the Ghana Football Association.

“The Ghana Football Association has taken delivery of the first batch of football boots to be distributed to Premier and Division One League Clubs. This follows the GFA’s promise to provide each of the eighteen (18) betPawa Premier League clubs and (48) Access Bank Division One League clubs with Thirty (30) pairs of football boots” , the GFA announced in an official statement two weeks ago.

However according to the team manager of the club , the CEO has taken delivery of their allocated 30 pairs of boots and sold them rather than giving them to the players.

“He is telling lies. He told us he has not gone for the boots and so I decided to go to Accra and collect them. When I went they told me that Richmond Osei (the CEO) has sent someone to come for the boots. After inquiring the person told me that Richmond indeed asked him to go for the boots but then he should give 15 pairs to someone in Kumasi and send us the remaining.” , team manager Alhassan Latif is quoted to have told Darling FM on Monday.

“As at now we have not even received even the remaining 15 pairs. He did the same thing with the Goil money and the Melcom packages.” , Alhassan Latif added.

Meanwhile in a quick rebuttal , Richmond Osei said :

“I have not sold the  boots. They are in my car. When they called me that they needed the boots to play this weekend’s game I told them that my car has broken down and so I cannot bring the boots.

Go and check the league table, they have about negative 6 points after 17 games so what do they need the boots for? Even if I sold the boots they are mine because the club is for me” , the angry CEO added.

Unity FC are root bottom of the Division One League Zone 1B table after 18 games with negative eight points and this is because they forfeited two league matches this season and suffered the consequences of losing six points.
