OFFICIAL : This is how FC Barcelona have planned to bring Lionel Messi to the club this summer !

Barcelona Reveal Plan to Sign Messi Back from PSG : FC Barcelona’s economic vice-president Eduard Romeu , details the conditions for trying to bring Lionel Messi back in interviews with the Catalan newspapers Sport and Mundo Deportivo.

Barça are playing tight to maintain their dream of bringing Lionel Messi (35 years old) back next summer.

In interviews with Sport and Mundo Deportivo, Eduard Romeu, economic vice-president, defends the club’s plan recently presented to the League.

While he acknowledges that the debt is more or less similar to that of two years ago, he prides himself on having higher market value players serving a much more competitive, and therefore attractive, team.

This opens the door to juicy sales and therefore to a possible return of Messi – at the end of the contract with PSG in June – which will only be possible with the entry of funds.

He reassures: “the viability plan will allow us to recruit”. “For players to arrive, others must leave”

In that case, can Messi return?

He responded as follows :

“I’m not going to talk about names, but I want to make it clear that for players to arrive, others must leave” ,  explains the director.

If players worth twenty enter, others must leave for the same value.”

Again for him, the return of Messi would be economically positive.

“It’s certainly not negative, he says. We haven’t done any study on the impact that his arrival or that of any other player could have, but I’m sure it would be positive.”

A return of the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is above all subject to the approval of the Spanish League, which is very strict about respecting its rules of financial fair play.

“The first thing will be to register the players that we already have, who have renewed and who are the club’s heritage, specifies Romeu.

Then, like the metro: for a player to enter, he must there may be departures of other players. We will always try to satisfy the requests of the technical staff, but always respecting these premises.”

He insists on the positive impact of a Messi return on Spanish football in Mundo Deportivo.

“I don’t know but I think a player of Messi’s stature is well received anywhere, right? So logically, well probably (that’s positive), but it’s a purely technical area in which I do not enter nor have any ancestry, beyond the sympathy we have for Leo, the best player in the world.”

Romeu also ensures that he does not quantify the economic potential of the superstar.

“We don’t value him, insists Romeu. We are only talking about certain things. I’m not talking about players who can end their contract the following season, it can also happen that a player extends but it’s not established and maybe the technical part intends to bring in players who are not in the club. You have to be very conservative and realistic with what is real.”

The Catalan leader finally assures that Messi’s departure in 2021 did not damage the club’s sponsorship contracts, while agreeing that his return could increase them.

“This question was asked when he left, he concludes. I see it positively. We did not lose sponsors when he left. We sold the Barça brand better and we not only lost but also won. With Leo would we have won more? It’s possible but it’s a theory.”
