Al Ahly : Africa’s most titled football club clinch trophy number 115

Al Ahly Wins Trophy Number 115 : Al Ahly SC defeated Pyramids FC by 2-1 to clinch the 2021/22 Egypt Cup on Monday night and it is the 115th trophy for the African powerhouse since the foundation of the club on 25th April 1907. 

This means the club has existed for 115 years and they have won 115 trophies as things stand now.

The Egypt Cup has been organized 91 times ; Ahly have won it record 38 times and Zamalek have 28 Cup trophies.

El Karti Walid drew the first blood for Pyramids in the 72nd minute before the influential Mahmoud Kahraba equalized for Ahly just two minutes later at the Cairo International stadium.

The tense final match was then sent into extra time where Hamdi Fathi netted the winning goal in the 105th minute for the Reds.

However Ahly defender Mohamed Abdelmomen was sent off in the 117th minute.

The Cup triumph is the second trophy for Swiss manager Marcel Koller as he also won the 2022 Egypt Super Cup with Ahly who are paired against Raja CA in the quarter-finals of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.
