Antoine Semenyo and Osman Bukari : The Black Stars of Ghana have completed their Match-Day Three and Match-Day Four fixtures of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification (AFCON) tournament against Angola.
The team of Chris Hughton defeated the Angolans by 1-0 at the Kumasi Babayara sports stadium on Thursday March 23rd and followed it up with a 1-1 draw against the Palancas Negras on Monday March 27th in Luanda.
Ghana scored two goals in the two AFCON qualifying games and both were scored by substitutes.
Antoine Semenyo replaced Inaki Williams in the 69th minute of the game in Kumasi before going on to smash home the winning goal in the 94th minute. The goal was the only goal of the game.
In the reverse match yesterday at the Estadio 11 de Novembro , it was the turn of Red Star Belgrade winger Osman Bukari to come off the bench to grab the headlines as he did against Portugal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Bukari replaced FC Ajax playmaker Mohammed Kudus in the 71st minute and made an instant impact by scoring the equalizer for Ghana in the next minute as the Black Stars held on to pick a vital away point.
The former Ghana youth star found a pocket of space in the Angola area to connect home Joseph Paintsil’s great cut-back.
Ghana lead Group E standings with 8 points in 4 matches played , Central African Republic are second with 7 points , Angola are third with their 5 points collected from 4 matches whilst Madagascar are bottom with a single point.
What next for Ghana?
The Black Stars hit the road again for their Match-Day Five match at Madagascar in June 2023 before taking on Central African Republic at home in September 2023.
