Asabre Tackles Hearts Recruitment Of Players Under Togbe : Maxwell Asabre , former General Secretary of Hearts of Oak National Chapters Committee (NCC), has taken a swipe at the leadership of Hearts of Oak over lack of proper transfer plan.
According to the staunch Hearts of Oak supporter , the club has not done any great signing since Mahatman Otoo.
“Before the 2020/21 league that we won , our last league success was in 2009 and we had one outstanding player who proved to all that he is quality. Even with this 2009 team we were of the view that their standard was not what we wanted but we still had one player Mahatma who was simply amazing. The club then faced financial problems and that is why the floatation of shares was done” , Maxwell Asabre said to Kumasi-based Fox FM.
The former General Secretary of the Hearts of Oak NCC continued :
“Can you tell me since 2011 , which Hearts of Oak player has been outstanding like Mahatma. Just mention one player and you will struggle. This is is because there is no proper recruitment policy at the club.
“Look they say every coach is as good as his players. If you look at Pep Guardiola he does not just buy players for buying sake. He buys quality because he knows he has a target to deliver. At Hearts of Oak all the players we have been signing are as a result of someone recommending and whispering from some where , that go and get that player or this player.”
The current Hearts players are playing according to their ability. They cannot do magic but the problem is that the expectations of the supporters is far bigger than what the players can meet. It is not the fault of the players because they played what they can.”
Hearts of Oak battled relegation during Week 34 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League but a draw at Berekum Chelsea helped the Phobians to avoid the drop.
