Asamoah Gyan Visits Black Meteors in Accra : Twenty-five players will make the Black Meteors trip to Algeria for their 2023 CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier first leg tie.
Ghana eliminated Mozambique in the previous round to reach the third and final stage of the qualification tournament.
There are seven ties and each winner advances to the tournament finals to be played in Morocco in June this year.
Thirty players took part in the team’s training session on Tuesday with Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his technical handlers at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Some foreign based players have also arrived in camp to beef up the squad for the double-legged tie.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Zubairu Ibrahim, Salim Adams, Alex Sarfo, Emmanuel Essiam, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Emmanuel Yeboah are all in camp as the team prepares to embark on the trip to Algeria.
The first leg game will be played on Friday, Match 24 in Annaba, Algeria with the return encounter slated for the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Tuesday, March 28.
The winner , the runner-up and the third-placed team of the 2023 CAF U23 AFCON qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympic men’s football tournament in Paris.
In fact the last time the Ghana Black Meteors team qualified and played at the Olympic football tournament was in Athens 2004 and Gyan was part of the Mariano Barreto’s squad.
