Ghana Player Ratings against Angola in Kumasi : Chris Hughton started his era as Black Stars of Ghana head coach with a slim victory against the Palancas Negras of Angola on home soil during Match-Day Three of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification series.

Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo came off the bench to score a 94th minute winner for the Black Stars at a packed Bababayara sports stadium on Thursday.

The victory puts Ghana in full control of the qualification group with seven points collected in three matches played. Angola remain on four points in three matches contested ahead of the reverse match on March 27th in Luanda.

GhanaSportsMarket.com has rated the performance of the Black Stars players.

GK Lawrence Ati-Zigi 8/10 : Kept a clean sheet in his fourth consecutive start for the Black Stars. Produced a great save in the 2nd minute to prevent the visiting team from taking an early lead.

RB Denis Odoi 7/10 : Occupied the right position so well. Made a number of overlapping runs down the right side.

LB Gideon Mensah 6/10 : Suffered and struggled against Angola right winger Helder Costa on the left side of the Ghanaian defence.

CB Daniel Amartey 8/10 : As important as always to the Ghana team at the back. Did his job well in his 21st consecutive start for the Black Stars and he has never been substituted

CB Alexander Djiku 7/10 : Threw bis body to make many key interventions and he and Amartey excellently policed Spezia dangerman M’Bala Nzola. Unfortunate that he went out injured with three minutes to full time.

CM Thomas Partey 8/10 : Huge performance from the Arsenal midfielder. Much influential an impactful on the overall Ghana game than what we saw at the World Cup in Qatar. Played a number of through passes to his teammates that were always dangerous against the visitors.

CM Edmund Addo 6/10 : Failed to produce a more convincing performance. Committed a number of fouls and was bundled out in the 68th minute for Salis Abdul Samed.

RF Jordan Ayew 6/10 : Not the best of matches for the Crystal Palace winger. His place was taken by Joseph Paintsil in the 68th minute.

AM Mohammed Kudus 7/10 : Made several attempts with his trademark strikes from range but it was not just a good day for the FC Ajax man to score for the Ghana team.

LF Kamaldeen Sulemana 7/10 : Created a lot of dangerous attacking moves but no goals would be scored from them.

CF Inaki Williams 5/10 : Another great opportunity to make his first big game in the Black Stars shirt but the Athletic Bilbao forward fail to shine. Replaced by eventual scorer of the only goal of the match , Antoine Semenyo in the 68th minute.

Head coach , Chris Hughton 8/10 : His second half changes made a difference. That was a good start.

Substitutes :

Antoine Semenyo – Made huge impact by smashing home the winning goal in the 94th minute.

Joseph Paintsil – Tried to make things happen on the right.

Salis Abdul Samed – Brought some quality and calmness alongside Partey.

Osman Bukari – Added energy and pace on the left.

Joseph Aidoo – Replaced Djiku in the 87th minute.
