Ghislain Konan : Meet the Ivorian defender who assisted Cristiano Ronaldo’s equalizer against Zamalek on Thursday !

Ghislain Konan Assists Cristiano Ronaldo : Al Nassr reached the quater-finals stage of the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup on Thursday following a 1-1 draw against Egypt side Zamalek at the King Fahd stadium in Taif in Saudi Arabia.

The second-most successful Egyptian football club netted first in the 54th minute from the spot thanks to Ahmed Mostafa Mohamed Sayed commonly known as Zizo.

However goal machine Cristiano Ronalo scored an important equalizer for the Saudi side with three minutes from time and it was all thanks to a clever cross delivered by Ivory Coast international Ghislain Konan.

Konan made his professional debut in the Segunda Liga for Vitória de Guimarães B on 17 February 2016 in a game against Atlético CP. He made his Primeira Liga debut for Vitória de Guimarães on 10 December 2016, when he played the whole game in a 2–1 victory over Boavista.

The talented left-back signed for Stade de Reims for a £3.6 million transfer fee from Vitória de Guimarāes in summer 2017. He made his debut in a 1–0 win away against OGC Nice.

In July 2022, he joined Saudi Professional League club Al Nassr on a three-year deal and his latest assist to Ronaldo ranks high among his list of assists in his professional career.

Meanwhile , it should be noted that Al – Hilal of Sudan competed at this competition and were eliminated at the second qualifying round. They had two Ghanaian players on their team ; David Abagna and Ibrahim Imoro who has since left the club.
