England captain Harry Kane is full of superlatives for midfielder Jude Bellingham after The Three Lions progressed to the last eight of the Euro 2024 with a 2-1 extra time victory against Slovakia.
Slovakia led the contest with a 25th-minue effort by striker Ivan Schranz. Therefore, England were heading for an embarrassing elimination until the Real Madrid playmaker stepped up to smash a fantastic overhead kick deep in injury time, forcing extra time in Gelsenkirchen.
2023/24 Bundesliga top scorer Kane then netted his second of the tournament with a pinpoint header in the 91st minute to put Gareth Southgate’s men ahead.

After the game, the Bayern Munich attacker spoke to ITV1 and said:
“That’s the desire and attitude from the boys and staff and everyone involved. It looked tough for a second but you keep going.
“Jude Bellingham scored an unbelievable goal and he’s kept our tournament alive. His goal was one of the best in our country’s history. What a player he is. He works so hard for the team. In the big moments he steps up. That’s what we need. We need everyone to step up in big moments.
“We had a lot of attacking players on the pitch. In this competition you find a way to win. We know we’ll do whatever it takes. This team knows how to dig deep. We could have played better but ultimately it’s a results business.”
