Isaac Oppong : The offensive midfielder scored an important stoppage time winner as Asante Kotoko defeated Rail Club de Kadiogo on Monday during the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

Oppong joined Asante Kotoko from Second Division side Becterto Sasana FC in September 2021 ahead of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.

Few players are able to break into the main team of elite clubs like Asante Kotoko but what Oppong has achieved with the Porcupine Warriors within a year is beyond expectation.

First , he scored three goals in his debut league season to help the team of Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum win the Ghanaian championship for the first time since their 2013/14 success.

Last season Oppong hit the ground running in his debut match for Kotoko after scoring a screamer against Dreams FC to help his team win the league opener by 3-1 at the Accra sports stadium and what followed were two more league goals and the Ghana premier league crown. For a rookie , this was a huge success.

The second notable achievement of Isaac Oppong happened on Monday September 11th at the Stade de l’Amitié Général Mathieu Kérékou in Cotonou , Benin.

Again in his debut match in Africa on a neutral ground , the youngster perfectly dealt with stage fright to put up a great display in Cotonou scoring the crucial first leg goal for the champions of Ghana.

Beforehand no one ever imagined a teenager was going to join Asante Kotoko from a second division side and then go on to win the league and score a Champions League goal on a foreign soil but it is what it is.
