John Paintsil Attacks GFA : Former Ghana international footballer John Paintsil has aimed a dig at the Ghana Football Association following the sad demise of Christian Atsu Twasam.
On Saturday February 18th , the former Newcastle United winger was found dead under the rubble of his residence that collapsed due to the deadly earthquake that shook parts of Turkey and Syria on February 6th.
Atsu’s mortal remains arrived in the country on Sunday night and Paintsil , 89 caps for Ghana , has not held back at all.
The former Fulham full-back who also played locally for Berekum Arsenal and Liberty Professionals appears to suggest the GFA does not have the moral right to empathize with the Twasam family because the same association barred Atsu from playing for the Black Stars.
“Stop the Hypocrisy. You snubbed him and kicked him out of your Blackstars at age 31. Atsu has been struggling to get a permanent stay in a club since the snub.” Paintsil is quoted by Original TV GH.
“We all know the Value & Respect your club gives you when you play for your Nation. Don’t pretend you loved him because you did not at all” he added.
Atsu represented the Black Stars between 2012 and 2019 making 65 appearances for the Black Stars.
The talented footballer was voted best player at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations where Ghana lost the grand finale to the Ivory Coast on penalties following a 0-0 outcome after 120 minutes.
He last played for Turkey Super Lig side Hatayspor.
