Karim Benzema Reaches 236 La Liga Goals : Karim Benzema netted a hat trick for Real Madrid against Almeria during a Week 32 La Liga match on Saturday in which La Casa Blanca won by 4-2.

The goals were the 234th , 235th and 236th for Benzema in the La Liga as he sits at the 4th position on the all-time list of players with most goals scored in Spain’s elite soccer competition.

The former Lyon attacker has been the main source of goals for the Spanish giants ever since goal machine Cristiano Ronaldo left the club at the end of the 2017/18 season.

La Liga all-time top scorer is Lionel Messi with 474 goals, all for Barcelona. He also holds the record for most goals scored in a single season with 50 in the 2011–12 campaign and is the only player ever to win the league’s top scorer award in eight different seasons.

Athletic Bilbao’s Telmo Zarra, who was the competition’s all-time top scorer until 2014, won the top scorer award six times.

Three other players — Real Madrid’s Alfredo Di Stéfano, Quini of Sporting Gijón and Barcelona, and Hugo Sánchez of Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid — each finished as top scorer in five individual seasons.
