Mubarik goal vrs Hearts : The 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League Week Three encounter between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak ended 1-1 at the Babayara sports stadium on Sunday as defender Mubarik Yussif score his biggest goal since joining the champions of Ghana. 

Defenders Mubarik Yussif and Caleb Amankwah scored for their respective sides.

Mubarik opened the scoring for the home side in the 56th minute following a rebound whilst Amankwah headed home three minutes from time to snatch an important away draw for the Phobians.

It was the biggest goal the Kotoko defender has scored since joining them on free transfer from Ashantigold.

Hearts vrs Kotoko. We are underway at the Babayara sports stadium. It is exactly a week that Kotoko were eliminated from the CAF Champions League by RC Kadiogo of Burkina Faso at the same venue.

1st minute : Mukwala goes down in the box and wants a penalty but referee Selorm Yao Bless is not interested. That was no penalty anyway.

2nd minute : Augustine Agyapong goes down in the Hearts area under a heavy challenge from Dennis Korsah and the home fans shout for a penalty but once again Yao Bless waves play on. Korsah is definitely lucky here.

3rd minute : Kotoko are in control at this early stage of the game.

5th minute : Isaac Oppong forces a great save from goalkeeper Ayi. That was close. Corner kick for Kotoko.

Hearts hold Kotoko in Kumasi

7th minute : Suraj goes down under a challenge from Eric Zeze just on the edge of the Kotoko penalty box but no foul for the Phobian.

10th minute : No goals scored yet in a really tense first ten minutes.

12th minute : Konadu jumps high to head a dangerous ball away from the Hearts area and Hearts of Oak quickly switch from defence to attack. Wasted effort by Awako.

14th minute : First biggest opportunity for Hearts of Oak. Isaac Mensah sets up Obeng Kwadwo in the box but his effort goes wide. That was close.

16th minute : Corner kick for Kotoko following a free kick taken by Stephen Amankona. Corner kick taken but Hearts of Oak clear their lines.

20th minute : Kaaba picks an injury and he is escorted out by the Hearts of Oak medics.

24th minute : Yakubu Zakari of Hearts of Oak wins a free kick against Zeze of Kotoko.

25th minute : Yellow card for Korsah for impeding Amankona. He is finally warned.

27th minute : Korsah bombs forward to cause troubles for Kotoko defence but his cross goes out for a Kotoko goal kick.

38th minute : Big chance for Kotoko as Mukwala cuts in for Isaac Oppong but Oppong’s double effort is dealt with by the Hearts defence. Big relief for Hearts of Oak.

41st minute : Samuel Boadu reacts with two quick changes. Enock Asubonteng and Fataw Mohammed come on for Isaac Mensah and Yakubu Zakari respectively. He is definitely not happy about the way his team is playing.

45th minute : Mukwala is played through and he comes up against Konadu Yiadom. Corner kick for Kotoko and it is cleared away by Hearts of Oak.

That is all for the first 45 minutes. Asante Kotoko were clearly the better side of the first period and created the most chances.

We will back for the second half.

47th minute : Esso pulls the shirt of Isaac Oppong to bring him down in the area but Yao Bless does not whistle for a penalty. It appears there was a clear shirt pulling against the Kotoko player.

49th minute : Stephen Mukwala takes takes advantage of a blunder by Konadu Yiadom but he fails to score. First real chance of the second half.

51st minute : Suraj Seidu forces a save from Danlad Ibrahim. That was a quality strike and save.

55th minute : Mukwala wins a freekick just on the edge of the Hearts penalty box. Korsah the offender again.

56th minute : Goal. Kotoko 1 Hearts of Oak 0. Mubarik Yussif reacts the fastest to a second ball in the Heart area. The defender slots home the opener. Big moment here for the Porcupine Warriors.

60th minute : Kotoko substitution. Nicholas Osei Bonsu comes on for Eric Zeze. Quiet debut game for the Ivorian.

65th minute : Richmond Ayi reads the game well to move out his area to clear a dangerous through pass intended for Mukwala.

67th minute : Osei Bonsu strikes in the area but Konadu Yiadom stretches to block his effort. What an intervention , Yiadom.

69th minute : Hearts of Oak substitution. Junior Kaaba goes out. His place is taken by Gideon Asante.

77th minute : Kotoko substitution. George Mfegue takes the place of Stephen Amankona and Rocky Dwamena for Enock Morrison.

79th minute : Mukwala goes down again in the Hearts box after a push by Caleb Amankwah but referee Yao Bless is still not interested. No penalty for the Ugandan.

83rd minute : Hearts of Oak substitution. Benjamin York in for Gladson Awako.

87th minute : 1-1. Caleb Amankwah equalizes for Hearts of Oak with three minutes to full time. What a goal. Suraj Seidu delivers a clever cross from a free-kick into the area and Caleb pops up to head home the equalizer. Big goal. Never say die until the bones are rotten they say.

90 + 1 :  Oppong passes to Mukwala in the Hearts area but the latter’s effort goes over the bar.

90 + 4 : End of the match. 1-1. Hearts hold Kotoko in Kumasi.
