Paa Kwesi Fabin on FA Cup Elimination against King Faisal : Aduana Stars head coach Samuel Kwesi Fabin is livid following his side’s elimination from the 2022/2023 MTN FA Cup competition by King Faisal Football Club on Sunday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
The former Ghana U-20 coach blamed poor officiating for their loss to King Faisal as he claimed they were denied three clear penalties in regulation time.
Ignatius Osei-Fosu’s King Faisal progressed to the semi-finals with a 3-1 win on penalty shootouts after playing 2-2 in 120 minutes of action.
Stephen Anokye Badu gave the Ogya boys the lead in the 47th minute before Abdul Latif equalized for King Faisal from the penalty spot.
Benjamin Bature scored to make it 2-2 after Frank Owusu had given Aduana a 2-1 lead.
“I don’t talk about referees. It was very bad but we’ll leave it like that. Before we ended the first half we had a clear penalty.”
“In the second half, we had two here. All were ignored. But look at the one that was given to King Faisal here. I mean it’s just comedy. I’m telling you,” he told max.com.gh.
King Faisal will now meet Nsoatreman FC in the semifinals of the Cup competition whilst Skyy FC take on Dreams FC in the other semi-finals tie.
In the ensuing penalty shootouts , King Faisal won by 3-1.
Faisal’s Abdul Latif played the first penalty of the shootouts and he scored against Joseph Addo. Adam Jabal then saved Bright Enchil’s attempt.
Adam Jabal then took the second penalty for his team and scored to make it 2-0 for Faisal. Alex Boakye scored for Aduana to make it 2-1.
Playmaker Asiamah failed to score his attempt for the home team but Anokye Badu also failed and the score was kept at 2-1 in favour of the Insha Allahu Boys.
David Oppong Afrane then scored to make it 3-1 for Faisal. Striker Isaac Mintah wasted his attempt to close the shootout at 3-1 for King Faisal who advance to the semifinals of the FA Cup.
Aduana FC’s much talked about Double ambition this season is therefore destroyed and their full focus now goes into making sure they win the Ghana Premier League.
