Real Madrid Withdraw From 2025 FIFA Club World Cup: Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed, on Monday, the club will not participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup citing insufficient monetary compensation and has urged other clubs to follow suit.
“FIFA forgets it, the players and clubs will not participate in this tournament,” proclaimed Carlo Ancelotti in the columns of ll Giornale. A single Real Madrid match is worth 20 million and FIFA wants to give us that amount for the entire cup. Negative. Like us, other clubs will reject the invitation.”, the five-time Champions League winner stated.
The FIFA Club World Cup is now a 32-team tournament starting next year and it is to be organized every four years.
Europe, which has twelve tickets for this Club World Cup, must send the winners of the 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Champions League (Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City).
The other qualified European teams (Salzburg, PSG, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Juventus Turin, FC Porto, Benfica Lisbon, Atlético de Madrid) were determined based on a ranking established on the results of the last four seasons.
