This Too Shall Pass : The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced on Thursday morning that it has suspended the on-going betPawa Ghana Premier League following a court injunction secured by Ashantigold SC on Wednesday.

The 2022/23 league season is just three-match days old but it cannot continue following the Human Rights High Court order.

But what has the Ghana Football Association not seen before?

Certainly circumstances do not remain forever and this too shall pass.

The GFA suffered the lowest ever point of its long history when the number 12 corruption Expose of Anas Aremeyaw Anas shook the football world in June 2018. The then GFA President Kwasi Nyantatakyi resigned, the 2018 football season was halted and later cancelled by the association and the government of Ghana alongside FIFA intervened.

The FIFA Normalisation Committee was formed to oversee the activities of the Ghana Football Association and Attorney General had to abandon its initial decision to wind up the GFA in court. I suspect you are casting your mind back as you read on. That was a really difficult period for the association.

The one-season tenure of the Normalisation Committee ended when new elections were conducted with Kurt Okraku winning the GFA Presidential elections in October 2019 to succeed Kwasi Nyantakyi.

Following a prolonged public and media discussion , Ghana football moved on from the Number 12 , however necessary it was.

As for Covid-19 in March 2020 , it was a natural disaster which resulted in the cancellations of many global sporting events.

The negative impacts of Covid-19 reduced and the moment finally came for football activities to fully resume in many areas of the world. Hearts of Oak won the double in 2020/21 and Asante Kotoko clinched the league title last season.

It is well documented that the likes of King Faisal FC and others clubs have taken legal actions against the Ghana Football Association in the past but in all those instances , the entirety of the season was never wasted ; the court always decides swiftly and the league always continues.

This too shall certainly pass , regardless of the outcome.
