Togbe Afede sacks Boadu

Togbe Afede sacks Boadu : The former Medeama SC head coach is the eleventh manager to be hired and fired by the Togbe Afede-led board of directors at Hearts of Oak.

On Tuesday 27th September 2022, Samuel Boadu became the 11th coach to be sacked by the Phobians since Togbe Afede XIV became the majority shareholder of the club in November 2011.

Hearts of Oak are winless in three league games this season ; a defeat at Aduana Stars and two draws against rivals Great Olympics and Asante Kotoko forcing the Togbe Afede-led board to send Boadu packing.

Ironically Samuel Boadu , the latest to be fired, is also the most successful Hearts of Oak coach in the Togbe era ; one Ghana Premier League title and two FA Cups won. No other coach comes near the record of Boadu at the club in terms of the last twelve years.

See the full list of the eleven coaches to suffer the impatience of Togbe Afede.

The list , compiled by GhanaSportsMarket.com , is below :

1.Nebojsa Vucicevic from 4th February 2011 to 18 March 2012.

2.C.K Akunnor – from 19th March 2012 on 1st November 2012.

3..David Duncan – From 13th November 2012 to 8th November 2016.

4.Herbert Addo from 11th July 2014 to 14th July 2015.

5.Kenichi Yatsuhashi – From to 29th October 2015 to 20th June 2016

6.Sergio Traguil from 27th June 2016 to 30th Aug 2016.

7.Frank Nuttal : Appointed on 16th  February 2017 and was sacked on 23rd February 2018.

8.Henry Wellington : Appointed on 23rd June 2018 as interim head coach at the start of the 2018 season and he was sacked on 8th June 2018.

9.Kim Grant : From 8th November 2018 to 31st December 2019.

10.Edward Odoom : From 31st December 2019 to 1st December 2020.

11.Samuel Boadu : From 1st March 2021 to 27th September 2022.

Note that interim and stop-gap coaches Chan Vanli , Edward Ansah , Yaw Preko , Seth Hoffman who were in charge for very short spells were not considered in this record.

Also not considered was Kosta Papic , the Hearts of Oak coach from 1st December 2020 to 15th February 2021. Papic rather left to take a new job in South Africa.
