Top 10 Ghana Premier League coaches of the last 10 years : GhanaSportsMarket.com has ranked the best coaches of the Ghana Premier League of the last ten years (2012/13 to 2022/23) and the list does not include known names such as Annor Walker , Maxwell Konadu , David Duncan and Samuel Kwesi Fabin.
We start the countdown. Feel free to agree or disagree with us.
10.Aristică Cioabă – Aduana FC
Managed Aduana in two separate stints as he finished second in the 2016 Ghana Premier League season with the Ogya Boys.
9.Kasim Mingle – Bechem United
Mingle may not have won the Ghana Premier League with the Hunters , his team has been part of the league title race for consecutive seasons.
Operating with a limited budget , the experienced coach who is now head trainer of Premier League newcomers Nations FC , still managed to put up a competitive team to make Bechem United a consistent top four side.
8.Frank Nuttal – Hearts of Oak
Did not win any major honors as Hearts of Oak coach but Nuttal was one of the best coaches in the Ghanaian league and that was shown in the beautiful football his team played.
He and the Phobians finished 3rd in the 2017 league season and were losing finalists of the 2017 FA Cup.
7.Augustine Evans Adotey – Medeama SC , Karela United
Adotey entered into the history books of Medeama as the first ever coach to win them the Ghana Premier League title after more than ten years since Moses Armah Parker bought the club.
The former Karela United boss did not commence the 2022/23 season with the Yellow and Mauves but after replacing Umar Rabi , Adotey brought a Midas touch to the club to land them their maiden league silverware.
6.Enos Adepa – Wa All Stars/ Legon Cities , Karela United , Ashantigold
Adepa did not manage a team in the Ghana Premier League for a long time but winning the 2016 league title with Wa All Stars (now known as Legon Cities ) means he definitely appears on this rich list.
5.Prosper Narteh Ogum – WAFA , Asante Kotoko
After finishing 3rd on the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League standings with WAFA , Ogum joined Asante Kotoko the following season and immediately handed them their first league title in eight years.
The Porcupine Warriors won 19 games , drew 10 matches and lost just 5 games to clinch the league title with 67 points with notable players such as Ibrahim Danlad , Ibrahim Imoro , Ismail Ganiyu , Salifu Mudasiru , Thiery Etouga Mbella and co.
4.Yusif Abubakar – Aduana FC
The late Ghanaian trainer won the 2017 Ghana Premier League with Aduana FC.
He also managed Medeama, Berekum Chelsea, Hearts of Oak and Techiman City, leaving in June 2016 after five months in the role.
3.Samuel Boadu – Medeama SC , Hearts of Oak
The Phobians had not won the Ghana Premier League since 2009 until Boadu arrived from Medeama SC to achieved the holy grail as Hearts of Oak won the 2020/21 league and the 2020/21 MTN FA Cup.
Within a short period , Boadu handed the Continental Club Masters three major trophies – a feat never matched by any Hearts of Oak manager since the legendary Cecil Jones Attuquayefieyo.
2.Bashiru Hayford – Asante Kotoko , Ebusua Dwarfs , Legon Cities
The veteran trainer remains the last manager to win the league for AshantiGold. After enjoying success at Asante Kotoko where he won the 2007/08 league title , Hayford went to Obuasi and delivered them the 2015 Ghana Premier League trophy.
Other unsuccessful spells came at Dwarfs and Legon Cities for Hayford but his legacy was already created in the country’s elite football and we think he deserves the second place.
1.Mas-Ud Didi Dramani – Asante Kotoko
The honor of the last coach to win back to back Ghana Premier League still belongs to Mas-Ud Didi Dramani. The current Black Stars assistant coach made led Kotoko to the 2012/13 and 2013/14 league honors before his time in Kumasi came to an end.
Even though for close to a decade , Dramani has not managed a club in the Ghana Premier League again , his big success at Kotoko means the number one position goes to him.
