PSG Latest Stance on Kylian Mbappe : After a few weeks of vacation, some of the PSG players including Neymar resumed on Monday but not Kylian Mbappé at the new training center
PSG, ready for all options to extend Mbappé’s stay at the club
Almost a week after Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s public pressure on Kylian Mbappé asking him to extend his contract or be transferred this summer, the situation remains frozen for the moment. But behind the scenes, the objective of Qatari leaders remains to have Mbappe’s deal extended.
“If he does not want to sign (an extension) within two weeks, the door is open”, the ultimatum of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is pronounced on July 5, on the sidelines of the presentation of the new coach, Luis Enrique.
Two days earlier, the club detailed its request to the Mbappé clan in a formal letter. Since then, no news. Following his short stay as a rock star in Cameroon, Mbappé headed for the South of France where he is currently recharging his batteries before returning to training and discovering the new center in Poissy next Monday.
After the anger that ran through the upper echelons of the club following the player’s refusal to exercise his option until 2025, the Parisian leaders want to move forward with pragmatism and will do everything to obtain an extension until 2025.
“This is the win-win scenario, everyone would be a winner”, we swear to the club. The player would not lose anything in financial terms from the last year of his very juicy contract. And the club would be guaranteed to receive its transfer compensation, essential in the business plan drawn up during Mbappé’s last extension.
According to RMC’s information, the club would not be closed to any hypothesis : lift the option provided for in the current contract, draft a new contract, rediscuss certain details, including financial ones, even more favorable to the player, or even register his departure in black and white.
Qatar could have an ace up its sleeve, with Ziad Hammoud
No formal meeting has yet been scheduled. The Mbappé clan believes that he was very clear in his letter. He remains firm on his position not to extend and leave free next summer. But Qatar could rely on an asset to try to achieve its ends.
This asset is called Ziad Hammoud, 44, of French nationality but Lebanese by birth, former leader of BeIn Media Group and recently recruited by… Kylian Mbappé, as revealed by the media L’Informé.
Indeed, the player decided to call on him to manage his career on off-field issues, in particular the business management of his image. This graduate of ESCP Europe School Management in France will become CEO of the company KEWJF, an acronym composed of the first letters of the first names of the family: Kylian, Ethan, Wilfried, Jirès Kembo Ekoko and Fayza.
Even if he will not be in the front line on Mbappé’s major sporting decisions, Hammoud maintains excellent relations with Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and could therefore be a valuable intermediary in future discussions between the player and the club. It is not excluded that other intermediaries also participate in reconciling positions.
The two parties should in any case soon sit around a table when the captain of the Blues will launch his physical preparation and fly to Japan in less than ten days with his teammates for the PSG summer tour.
