The New York Knicks marked a colourful pre-game NBA Championship celebration as they picked up their rings, but it was the Philadelphia 76ers who left Madison Square Garden with the victory.
The Sixers claimed a 106-100 win in the 2026-27 NBA regular season opener on Tuesday, October 20.
Tyrese Maxey delivered an all-around performance, finishing with 28 points, four rebounds, and five assists.
The Philadelphia 76ers star also made his presence felt defensively, recording three steals and three blocks to contribute at both ends of the court.
Maxey was efficient with his scoring, posting a 61% true shooting percentage, highlighting his ability to convert his scoring opportunities effectively.
His performance demonstrated his offensive quality, defensive awareness and ability to influence the game in multiple ways.

Meanwhile in his Philadelphia debut, LeBron James recorded 14 points, nine rebounds, and seven assist as he aims aims to make more NBA history in his 24th season in the league.
According to the King James Gospel, the iconic basketball star is widely tipped to inspire the Sixers to the 2027 NBA Finals.
”Personally, I feel a lot better, still getting my rhythm,” James is quoted to have told NBC Sports’ Zora Stephenson.
