Ghana Needs Time to Be Back to The Top Level Says Shardow

Ghana Needs Time to Be Back to The Top Level Says Shardow : Team Manager of the Black Stars of Ghana , Ameenu Shardow , believes it will take time for Ghana to be classified among the best African soccer nations.

The Black Stars have not won the Africa Cup of Nations since 1982 and no Ghanaian football club has lifted any African title since Hearts of Oak did so in 2005.

The nosedive of Ghana football is across the major fronts ; club and national team and Ameenu who is also the general manager of Premier League side Dreams FC reckons that the revival of the country’s number one sport would not come immediately.

“I understand as Ghanaians we love our football and want to win all the time but it will take time.

“We need to do more and invest more to bring our game back to the top level and that would take time before we get to the top again and I know we’re learning from our mistakes”, he told 3Sports.

The Ghana national team qualified and played at the last FIFA World Cup in Qatar where the team managed by Otto Addo lost 3-2 to Portugal , defeated South Africa by the same score line before losing to Uruguay by 2-0 to exit the competition after group play.

The Black Galaxies , under Annor Walker ,  failed to qualify from their group at the 2023 CHAN tournament held in Algeria and the Black Meteors of coach Ibrahim Tanko miserably failed to advance to the knockout stages of the 2023 CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The situation is not any better in terms of club soccer. Hearts of Oak , Ashantigold and Asante Kotoko failed to reach the money zone of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup as the last Ghanaian sides to compete in Africa.

Medeama SC , winners of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup winners Dreams FC will represent the country in the upcoming CAF inter -club competitions.
