France : After Mohammed Salisu , AS Monaco sign another African defender Wilfried Singo

AS Monaco are delighted to announce the arrival of defender Wilfried Singo from Torino Football Club. The 22-year-old Ivorian international has signed a five-year contract and is now linked to the club until June 2028.

Trained in Côte d’Ivoire at AS Denguélé, Wilfried Singo joined Torino Football Club in winter 2019.

He first played with the U19 team, Torino Primavera, with whom he played 31 games (3 goals, 3 assists).

98 Serie A games at the age of 22

His progress enabled him to join the professional squad during the off-season, and he played his first professional match on 1 August 2019, in the second qualifying round of the Europa League, winning 4-1 against Hungarian club Debreceni Vasutas Sport Club.

In the 2020-2021 season, the 1.90m defender made his mark with Torino FC. He played 28 games, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists.

A central defender, also capable of playing as a right-back, his playing time increased steadily over the next two seasons (2021-2022 and 2022-2023), during which time he played his part in Torino’s run to 10th place in Serie A at the end of those two years.

A physical and technical defender with a good sense of anticipation, Wilfried Singo made 109 appearances for Torino FC, including 98 in Serie A, scoring 7 goals and providing 10 assists.

Ivorian international

His performances in the Italian league have been noticed in Côte d’Ivoire. After playing for the U20 national team, Wilfried Singo took part in the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, where he started 4 matches.

During the competition, he helped the Ivorians to good results against Germany and Brazil, and to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.

Coach Patrice Beaumelle handed him his first senior cap on 5 June 2021 in a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso. Since then, Wilfried has played 6 more games for the Elephants, winning 5 and drawing 1.

AS Monaco wish him every success in the diagonal jersey.
