Gold Stars 2 Asante Kotoko 1 : The performance of the players rated !

Asante Kotoko were defeated 2-1 by Bibiani Gold Stars on Saturday during Week Two of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League as Prince Owusu Kwabena and Eric Bosomtwi netted the goals for the home team whilst substitute Mohammed Sherif scored for the Porcupine Warriors.

Gold Stars Player Ratings 4 – 3 – 3

GK Joseph Baah 7/10 : Was hardly tested by the ineffective Kotoko attack.

RB Yahaya Adraman 8/10 : What a performance ! Was one of the most used attacking avenues by Gold Stars.

CB Michael Enu 7/10 : Did his job well at the back.

CB Yakubu Ziaul Hak 7/10 : Did a great job in the first half to keep Steven Mukwala out on a few occasions. Went out injured in the 50th minute. With him on the pitch , the game was 0-0.

LB Emmanuel Odai 8/10 : Another player that could have won the NASCO Man of the Match. Delivered that great cross for Prince Owusu to head home the opener. Also created the second goal of his team scored by Eric Bosomtwi. That’s two assists from the left back. Monstrous.

CM Stephen Banahene 8/10 : Dominant performance from the former Ashantigold man. His quality on the ball was not matched by any one from the other team.

LCM Appiah McCarthy 6/10 : Came in to produce some moments of danger with his dead ball deliveries but overall he was not at the level.

RCM Charles Gyamfi Camara 7/10 : Fine performance by Camara on the left. The reason why Kotoko left back John Tedeku hardly crossed the half-way line.

RF Ronald Frimpong 6/10 : Tried to make things happen from the left wing before he was taken off.

LF Prince Owusu Kwabena 8/10 : Terrific header from almost 12 yards out to beat Frederick Asare. That was a great breakthrough for Gold Stars.

CF Alex Aso 8/10 : Saw his 18th minute goal not given after punishing that howler by the Kotoko goalkeeper. A real beast against the Kotoko defenders. Won the MOTM award without actually scoring any of the goals. That says a lot about his overall display.

Head coach : Michael Osei 8/10

Asante Kotoko Player Ratings 4 – 1 – 3 – 2

GK Frederick Asare 4/10 : Beaten with a header some 12 yards out and a long range effort. Surely , could have done better. Saw his first half error punished by Alex Aso but was lucky as the goal was overturned.

RB Augustine Agyapong 3/10 : He is a struggling player at the moment.

CB Mohammed Nurudeen Yusif 4/10 : Suffered against the strong attackers of Gold Stars namely Prince Owusu , Aso and Ronald Frimpong.

CB Henry Ansu 4/10 : Alongside his partner at the back , suffered for most parts of the game.

DM Andrews Ntim Manu 5/10 : Made some good clearances and interceptions to cut down some of the attacks of the home team.

RCM Rocky Dwamena 4/10 : Not at the level.

AM Shadrack Addo 5/10 : Played some fine long balls to his the two Kotoko strikers.

LCM Georges Mfegue 4/10 : Certainly not one of his best games.

CF Kalo Ouattara 4/10 : Was hardly involved in the game as the home team dominated play.

CF Steven Mukwala 4/10 : Had couple of supplies but his weak shots were too easy for Gold Stars goalkeeper Joe Baah.

Head coach : Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum 4/10
