Dreams FC Defeatesd at Club Africain : Dreams FC faced a tough start in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, losing 2-0 to Club Africain at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Rades, Tunisia.
Despite a positive showing, the Ghanaian FA Cup winners couldn’t overcome the formidable Club Africain in their first match.
The vociferous support for Club Africain and an intimidating crowd did not deter Dreams FC from giving a commendable performance. The Ghanaian side faced adversity when Club Africain secured a two-goal lead in the first half, with Tayeb Meziani and Kingsley Eduwo finding the net. Meziani’s goal resulted from a brilliant team move, while a goalkeeping error by Solomon Agbasi led to Eduwo’s goal.
Dreams FC faced additional challenges as defender Abdul Jalilu received a second yellow card, leading to his expulsion from the match. Despite the setback, Dreams FC, as first-timers in the competition, showcased resilience and attacking intent. They made nine goal attempts with four shots on target and managed 48 attacks, trailing the home side by only two.
While Club Africain dominated possession, Dreams FC’s positive performance offers encouragement for the upcoming matches. The team, led by Karim Zito, will quickly shift focus to their next game against Nigeria’s Rivers United next weekend, aiming to bounce back with a victory.
