Ghana FA Cup holders Dreams FC take on Stade Malien in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final second leg on Sunday at the Babayara Sports Stadium on Sunday. Keep on reading this Dreams FC vs Stade Malien preview as I tell you which team I think will win and advance to the semi-finals of the competition.

The Ghanaian side secured an impressive 2-1 first leg away victory against the Malian opposition on 31st March at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako. Thus Abdul Karim Zito’s side will be looking to complete the double over the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup winners.

Yoro Mamady Diaby scored the game’s first goal in the 53rd minute to put the home team ahead before former Al Ahly attacker John Antwi netted twice to win it for Dreams. Antwi scored in the 66th minute before realizing a brace in the 73rd with a penalty effort.

Who Will Qualify?

We say Dreams FC because they play at home and posses a first leg advantage. It is worth noting Dreams FC are are on a 5-game home winning run as they have won all of their 5 home games in the current Confederation Cup campaign.

The 2023 Ghana FA Cup winners recorded a 2-1 win each against Milo FC and Kallon FC in the first and second rounds respectively at the Accra sports stadium. Karim Zito’s men clinched three more home triumphs at the Babayara Sports Stadium during group play.

This comprises a 2-1 success against Rivers United, a 4-0 spanking of Académica do Lobito, and a 1-0 win against Club Africain. Overall, the Ghanaian side have won 12, drawn 4, and lost just 1 of their 17 home fixtures contested across all competitions in the current season. They have scored 33 goals and conceded 14 within that series.

Conversely, Stade Malien head into this encounter with a poor form winning just 1 of their their last 5 in all competitions. Moreover, they have had mixed results in their 5 Confederation Cup away games in the current season with 2 wins, 1 draw, and 2 defeats. They scored 7 times and shipped 8 goals in that sequence of matches.

Correct Score Prediction

Considering the above insights, I am backing Dreams FC to win 2-0.
