Asante Kotoko to Play DC United in Washington after Beating Hearts of Oak to Clinch Inaugural Democracy Cup

Asante Kotoko will play DC United in Washington in the United States of America following their 2024 Democracy Cup triumph against Hearts of Oak on Wednesday.

“We are going to sponsor you to the United States to play DC United,” said speaker of Ghana’s Parliament Alban Bagbin.

Justice Blay put Kotoko ahead with a perfect penalty in the 30th minute as the Porcupine Warriors dominated their sworn rivals.

Asamoah Boateng equalized for Hearts with a flick header after flying into an aerial challenge against Frederick Asare.

However, despite an improved display from the Phobians, it was the dominant Kotoko that went on win the game thanks to a 61st-minute effort by winger Peter Amidu Acquah.

“The stability and the balance in the team was great. I told you wea are going to see a different Kotoko team. I will like to congratulate all Kotoko fans.”, said Daivid Ocloo who was in charge of the Reds for this Cup match because head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum is ill.
