Kotoko Defeat Berekum Chelsea : Asante Kotoko bounced back to winning ways after securing a comeback victory against Berekum Chelsea during Week 9 of the betPawa Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.
Emmanuel Sarpong opened the scoring for the away side with a clever effort from range following an awful clearance by Kotoko defender Andrews Appau.
First half substitute Serge Eric Zeze then equalized for the Porcupine Warriors at the stroke of half time before Ugandan import Stephen Mukwala put the home team ahead seven minutes after the hour mark.
The inclusion on Enock Morrison particularly changed the complexion of the game as Kotoko’s Burkinabe coach Seydou Zerbo introduced him on the wings to replace Nicholas Mensah.
Morisson was a constant threat for the Berekum Chelsea defence as he assisted Mukwala to score the second goal of Kotoko with a clever header.
Following the results Asante kotoko moves to the second place on the league standings with 17points just two points adrift league leaders Aduana stars. Berekum Chelsea on the other hand drops to the 10th position on the log with 12points.
Meanwhile in Dawu at the Theatre of Dreams, Dreams FC were too strong for King Faisal FC as they defeated the Insha Allah Boys by 2-0 with goals from skipper Abdul Jalilu and striker Agyenim Boateng Mensah.
Elsewhere in Cape Coast Legon Cities humiliated Kotoku Royals by 3-0. Nimble-footed winger Jonah Attuquaye ,former Hearts of Oak attacker Kofi Kordzi and Alex Aso were all on the score sheet.
The match between Bechem United and Tamale City failed to produced a winner and Karela United and Medeama shared the spoils too in Anyinase.
