Young Africans 3 TP Mazembe 1 : Ghana defender Ismail Ganiyu fails to make match-day squad

Ismail Ganiyu Unused Against Young Africans : TP Mazembe were defeated 3-1 by Young Africans during the second round of group stage matches of the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

Kennedy Musonda put the Tanzania team ahead in the 7th minute , Yahya Mudathir made it 2-0 just four minutes later.

Alex Ngonga pulled a goal back for Mazembe ten minutes from time but Congo striker Kisinda Tuisila sealed the victory for Young Africans with a 90th minute effort.

Meanwhile former Asante Kotoko defender Ismail Ganiyu who made the trip to Dar es Salaam was not part of the TP Mazembe match-day squad as head coach Pamphile Mihayo selected twenty players from a pool of twenty-five.

The Ghana defender was also not part of the squad that won against AS Real Bamako last week during the opening day of group play.

Ganiyu won the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League with Kotoko. He left the club to join Iraqi side Al Talaba SC in September 2022 but after a short spell he took his career to the Dr. Congo giants.
