CAF Champions League : Mamelodi Sundowns crush Al Ahly by 5-2 in seven-goal thriller as Shalulile hits brace

Al Ahly Humbled by Mamelodi Sundowns : Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Al Ahly by 4-2 in their CAF Champions League Match-Day Four encounter at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday.

The South Africans now move back to the top spot of Group B standings with ten points after four matches. Al-Hilal Omdurman who won 2-0 against Coton Sport temporarily occupied the first position with 7 points.

Chile midfielder Marcelo Ivan Allende Bravo put Sundowns ahead in the 4th minute , Mohamed Sherif levelled for the Egyptian giants in the 13th but Themba Zwane made it 2-1 for Masandawana in the 24th minute.

Teboho Mokoena struck in the 40th minute to make sure the home team go into the break with a strong 3-1 lead.

In the second half South African forward Percy Tau scored in the 61st minute as Ahly threatened a comeback but Rhulani Mokwena’s charges proved too strong for Africa’s most successful football club as striker Peter Shalulile netted twice in the 72nd and 88th minutes to put the game completely beyond the visitors.

It was a statement performance from the South African against the almighty Al Ahly who are third on the Group standings with 4 points in 4 games.

Ahly travel to Garoua to take on Coton Sport during match-day five in a must win game for the Egyptians if they are to stand any chance of qualifying from the group.
