Evans Oppong on Non-Selection of Joseph Addo : Communication Director of Aduana Football Club Evans Oppong says the club is disappointed over the non-selection of goalkeeper Joseph Addo by Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches against Angola.
“We accept the call-up that the coach made but we are disappointed that our player Joseph Addo was not invited.” , Evans Oppong told Sunyani-based Service Radio on Monday.
“Goalkeeper Joseph Addo has at least 20 years of experience in the local league. From his days at Heart of Lions , Ebusua Dwarfs , Hasaacas , Asante Kotoko and Aduana now.
In the month of February Addo played 5 games and conceded no goals meaning he kept five clean sheets against top teams like Kotoko , Hearts of Oak , Bechem United , Dreams FC. He’s kept 10 clean sheets so far in the league out of his 15 appearances. So it is obvious that he should have been called.” , Oppong added.
Ghana take on Angola on March 23rd at the Babayara sports stadium during match-day three of the 2023 AFCON qualifying series before traveling to Luanda for the reverse fixture four days later.
