Asante Kotoko Show Class in Samreboi : Form is temporal and class is permanent. That is exactly what happened on Saturday afternoon as Asante Kotoko produced a strong performance to defeat FC Samartex 1996.
The Nsenkyire Sports Arena was packed to the rafters and the Porcupine Warriors did not disappoint as Enock Morrison and Rocky Dwamena scored the goals for the reigning champions of Ghana.
“I told my boys to keep the ball in the opponent’s half but not in our half and we have won” , Kotoko assistant coach Orlando Wellington said after the game.
It was their first away victory in 9 games across all competitions this season with their last win on the road coming at Medeama on 12th November 2022.
Saturday’s win is also the first for the Ghana champions in 2023 and to be honest this is one of their best performances of Kotoko this season.
The heroics of goalkeeper Frederick Asare and the strong performances of Mohammed Alhassan . Andrews Appau , Sheriff Mohammed and Nicholas Osei Bonsu did the trick.
In midfield skipper Richard Boadu was not so lively but he did the basics supported by the influential Richmond Lamptey. What a performance from the former Inter Allies man and I am surprised why the Man of the Match award did not go to him.
Sarfo Taylor and Georges Mfegue did not score but their contribution helped the team to win.
