Senegal to Decide on Starting Goalkeeper vs Mozambique : Without the first choice goalkeeper Édouard Mendy not selected for this international break as he recovers from an injury at Chelsea FC , the position of the number 1 goalkeeper of the Senegal national team is now up for public discussion.
Who will start against Mozambique on Friday?
This is the question that many observers are asking as this qualifying match for the CAN Côte d’Ivoire 2023 approaches.
The debate is set and head coach Aliou Cissé obviously recognized that there was competition between Alfred Gomis (FC Cômo), Mory Diaw (Clermont Foot) and Seny Dieng (Queen Park Rangers) and that they each have a chance of keeping the cages against Mozambique.
“Today we have three good goalkeepers, whether Gomis who has resumed competition, Seny who is doing very good things but also Mory in relation to the season he is currently doing.” Aliou Cisse said.
He continued :
“We are seeing the best solution but one thing is certain is that having three very good goalkeepers is very important for the Senegal national team. The choice will be made with the goalkeeper coach Tony Sylva to make the final choice,” explained Aliou Cissé at the end of the second training session this Tuesday at Diamniado.
