Medeama Humble Kotoko in Kumasi on March 26th : Medeama SC produced a spirited performance to defeat Asante Kotoko by 2-0 at the Babayara sports stadium during Week 23 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday night.
Jonathan Sowah continues his impressive scoring form for the Yellow and Mauves as he headed home the opener in the 15th minute.
In the second half the away team under the managerial leadership of the experienced Ghanaian coach Augustine Evans Adotey scored a second goal through Vincent Atingah from the spot in the 76th minute.
Nimbled footed playmaker Derrick Fordjour was brought down in the Kotoko area by right back Augustine Agyapong and referee Mohammed Misbau wasted no time in pointing to the spot.
Former Hearts of Oak center back Atingah , a known penalty expert in the Ghana Premier League , successfully converted to make it 2-0 for the two-time FA Cup winners.
The defeat means the Porcupine Warriors have lost at home for the second time across all competitions this season after their 1-0 loss at the same venue against RC Kadiogo in the CAF Champions League on 18th September 2022.
The visiting team who have seen three different coaches take charge of the team this season were tactically disciplined and their forward players caused a lot of troubles to the Kotoko defenders.
Jonathan Sowah in jersey number 41 , veteran winger Theophilus Anobah in number 18 shirt , number 10 shirted Derrick Fordjour and Joshua Agyemang with jersey number 25 gave the the likes of Andrew Appau , Mohammed Alhassan , Augustine Agyapong and Nicholas Osei Bonsu a really torrid time at the Babayara sports stadium.
Kotoko now drop to the 7th position on the league table with 34 points in 22 games played whilst Medeama go 4th with 37 points taken from 23 matches.
