Asante Kotoko 0 Medeama 2 : Everything head coach Seydou Zerbo said in his reaction to the home defeat

Seydou Zerbo Reacts to Medeama Home Defeat : Medeama SC recorded their biggest performance of the season to humble Asante Kotoko by 2-0 at the Babayara sports stadium during Week 23 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday night.

Jonathan Sowah headed home the opener in the 15th minute for Medeama following a goal mouth action.

However replays showed the Yellow and Mauves striker may have been in an offside position but the goal stood.

In the second half the away team under the managerial leadership of the experienced Ghanaian coach Augustine Evans Adotey scored a second goal through Vincent Atingah from the spot.

Nimbled footed playmaker Derrick Fordjour was brought down in the Kotoko area by right back Augustine Agyapong and referee Mohammed Misbau wasted no time in pointing to the spot.

Former Hearts of Oak center back Atingah then stepped forward and successfully converted to make it 2-0 for the two-time FA Cup winners who have used three different coaches this season ; David Duncan , Umar Rabi and now Adotey.

The defeat means the Porcupine Warriors have lost at home for the second time across all competitions this season after their 1-0 loss at the same venue against RC Kadiogo in the CAF Champions League on 18th September , 2022.

Kotoko now drop to the 7th position on the league table with 34 points in 22 games played whilst Medeama go 4th with 37 points taken from 23 matches.

After his two-week absence in the country , head coach Seydou Zerbo returned from Burkina Faso to take charge of the game.

Unfortunately he and his team saw a home defeat for the second time this season after the RC Kadiogo failure.

Zerbo reacted to the defeat in his post-match interview and this is what he said :

“We were not good today in all aspects of the game today. We lacked concentration , the application of out game plan , we lacked the determination and communication.

That is why in all aspects we were not good today as compared to the opponents.

“I am really disappointed that we did not score a goal. We played at home and we are defeated 2-0. I am so disappointed. It is part of the game. You have to take it with a lot of philosophy but I am not happy about the defeat.”
