RUTHLESS : Asante Kotoko thrash 10-man Real Tamale United as Agyapong nets superb free-kick and Mukwala bags a brace

Kotoko Thrash Real Tamale United in Kumasi : Asante Kotoko were merciless against Real Tamale United (RTU) on Sunday night after recording a 4-0 success versus the Pride of the North who completed the game with ten players as goalkeeper Yaw Osei was sent-off in the 33rd minutes at the Babayara sports stadium.

It was a turning point in the Ghana Premier League Week 25 match as Osei came off his area to challenge Kotoko striker Matheus De Souza in one-versus-one situation.

The RTU keeper launched his legs into the Brazilian to bring him down and referee Daniel Laryea did not hesitate to award a free-kick to the home team before brandishing a straight red card to Osei who was the last player of the away team on that occasion.

RTU then sacrificed out-field player Jorge Renchi for second-choice goalkeeper Lukman Sheriff to join the game and the latter conceded the first goal of the night immediately after entering the match with Augustine Agyapong , in the 37th minute , superbly netting from the free-kick that saw Yaw Osei sent-off.

The first half thus ended 1-0 to Abdulai Gazale’s side who were clearly the better team of the first 45 minutes.

In the second period more goals continued as the champions of Ghana made the most out of their numerical advantage.

Uganda attacker Steven Mukwala made it 2-0 from the spot in the 47th minute before recording a brace in the 64th as Kotoko went 3-0 up.

Brazilian attacker De Souza after putting in another strong performance on the night finally registered his first ever Asante Kotoko goal with his 90th minute effort to make it 4-0 for the home team.

Asante Kotoko Starting Line – Up :

GK Frederick Asare

Augustine Agyapong , Mohammed Alhassan , Mohamed Sherif , Nicholas Osei Bonsu

Eric Serge Zeze , Richard Boadu , Richmond Lamptey

Isaac Oppong , Matheus De Souza , Steven Mukwala

Kotoko are now 5th place on the league standings with 38 points in 24 games played and they face King Faisal FC next on Wednesday in an outstanding Week 21 match at the Babayara sports stadium.
