Hearts of Oak Defeat Nsoatreman to go 3rd : Hearts of Oak recorded their eleventh victory of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season with a 2-1 home win against Nsoatreman FC on Sunday night.
A minute silence was observed in honour of the late retired FIFA referee, GFA and RAG’s National Technical Instructor Mr.Richard Thomas Atiffu.
In the 15th minute midfielder Glid Otanga was brought down at the edge of the Nsoatreman penalty box as a free-kick was given to the home team at the Accra Sports stadium.
Playmaker Linda Mtange took the free-kick which was mistakenly headed by Philip Ofori into his own net to put Hearts of Oak ahead.
Two minutes later Cameroon striker Albert Eonde made a clever run with the ball into the box of the opponents but his final effort was slightly pushed out by Nsoatreman goalkeeper Daniel Afadzwu.
Hearts of Oak continued to dominate their rivals as the likes of Glid Otanga , Yaw Amankwah Baafi , Linda Mtange and Albert Eonde combined to pose many dangers against the visiting team.
Despite the dominance of David Ocloo’s side , they could only go into the break with the 1-0 advantage.
In the second period , Yaw Amankwah Baafi who has been on top form this season for the Continental Club Masters made it 2-0 in the 66th minute and it was the influential Congolese maestro Linda who provided the assist.
Just two minutes after going 2-0 down , Nsoatreman responded with a goal through Samuel Ofori.
In the 83rd minute , a red card (second yellow card) was shown to Asokwah Ransford for walking back onto the pitch without permission from any of the match officials as Nsoatreman FC finished the game with ten players.
The victory means Hearts of Oak (11 wins , 9 draws and 6 defeats this season) are now 3rd on the league table with 42 points in 26 games played.
Aduana FC who defeated Great Olympics in Abrankese on Saturday still lead the pack with 47 points whilst Medeama of Augustine Evans Adotey are second with 44 points.
