ANALYSIS : This is why Thomas Partey was so poor against West Ham United as he flops in an important game for Arsenal

Thomas Partey Flops Against West Ham United on April 16th : West Ham United came from two goals down to hold Arsenal to a 2-2 drawn game in their Week 31 Premier League match on Sunday afternoon. Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey lasted 67 minutes in the encounter as he committed one error that resulted in the West Ham United penalty in the 33rd minute.

The Ghanaian was dispossessed in midfield by Declan Rice and Brazilian defender Gabriel subsequently poorly brought down compatriot Lucas Paqueta for a penalty to The Hammers.

To be honest and fair with the Black Stars midfielder , he was all alone and without any support and with his back facing the onrushing Rice , the West Ham captain was in a better position to win the ball off the Ghanaian who tried to lift the ball over his opponent.

This is however not an excuse as Partey could have done better. Overall , Partey failed to impress as he was taken off in the 67th minute.

Gabriel Jesus scored in the 7th minute to put Arsenal ahead after Ben White delivered a clever pass for the Brazilian to slot home with a cool finish.

Three minutes later Arsenal made it 2-0 after Gabriel Martinelli sent a lofted cross into the West Ham area for skipper Martin Odegaard to connect with a quick low shot.

However The Hammers staged a great comeback to equalize all the two goals as Mohamed Said Benrahma successfully converted the 33rd minute penalty to make it 2-1.

Jarrod Bowen then netted the equalizer in the 55th minute just moments after Bukayo Saka missed a penalty for Arsenal.

The former Atletico Madrid man was not at his best and this is not the part of the season to lower the standards and this applies to both Arsenal and the Black Stars deputy captain.

Arsenal now lead the Premier League with 74 points after 31 games played whilst second-placed Manchester City have 70 points in 30 matches contested and the title race advantage goes to Pep Guardiola’s side who have 8 more games to play.

City are also considered favorites to win the 2023 UEFA Champions League after imposing a strong 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the fist leg of the quarter-finals.
