Medeama boss Evans Adotey reacts to 5-1 spanking of Hearts of Oak as Yellow and Mauves go in front in title race !

Medeama Boss Evans Adotey Reacts to 5-1 Humiliation of Hearts : Medeama SC produced a strong performance to humiliate Hearts of Oak by 5-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon in their Week 31 Ghana Premier League encounter as red-hot striker Jonathan Sowah netted a brace.

Talented winger Derrick Fordjour put the visitors ahead in the 17th minute with a clever finish from outside the box but goalkeeper Richmond Ayi could have done better even though the ball bounced off the ground making it difficult for the former Techiman City custodian.

In the 31st minute Ibrahim Salifu , Most Valuable Player of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season , converted a penalty to equalize for the hosts after Caleb Amankwah was brought down in the Medeama area.

Two minutes later , the Yellow and Mauves were handed the same favour as Fordjour was caught in the box by Caleb Amankwah and penalty specialist Vincent Atingah successfully converted to restore his side’s lead.

It was the 11th goal of the season for the former Ebusua Dwarfs and Hearts of Oak center-back. Medeama proved too strong for their hosts as Jonathan Sowah netted in the 42nd minute to make it 3-1.

The two-time FA Cup winners continued to dominate their rivals with two more goals from Sowah in the 84th and Kwesi Donsu in the 88th as Hearts of Oak were condemned to an embarrassing 5-1 home defeat.

This means the team of Augustine Evans Adotey have defeated both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko on the road this season.

The full transcript of the post-game interview of Medeama boss Augustine Evans Adotey is produced by GhanaSportsMarket.com below :

On the 5-1 result :

“I am happy. I am happy for the victory. Well thanks for the opportunity. Before this particular game My expectation was to climb on top of the league ladder and lo and behold my mission is fulfilled.

At the end of the day we won 5-1. I am not particular about the score line but we are happy because we are occupying the top spot.”

On the performance of his team :

“Let me commend my players. After taking the 3-1 lead I asked them to withdraw and come into defence. If we can’t score we keep the 3-1 score line and you saw Hearts of Oak kept coming and coming until we use that opportunity to score two additional goals.

So I will commend my team , my boys especially for winning by that margin.”

On the impact of Jonathan Sowah :

“In fact you saw Sowah today as a loan striker. We were to play two front attackers but we chose to play Sowah alone and you saw what happened. In defence he was there and in attack he was there.

That was the task I assigned him. Trust me Sowah , you will see him better than you saw today.”

On title race :

“Not yet. We tackle the remaining matches one at a time. We won today , we are keeping the victory behind us. King Faisal is the next target.

We are going to work on King Faisal and a win will keep us on top of the log and then we look at Samartex before we take on the last game.

So we are marching every match after match.”

On whether Medeama Wil Win the League :

“Yes trust me we are winning the league. I told you my dream was to come on top of the league after this game and lo and behold my mission is fulfilled. So trust me we are maintaining the top spot until the final day.”
