Dortmund Expected to Win 2022/23 Bundesliga Today : Borussia Dortmund are expected to lift the 2022/23 Bundesliga title on Saturday as the German top-flight competition ends today May 27th.
The Bavarians have completely dominated the last ten full seasons of the Bundesliga starting from the 2012/23 season under manager Jupp Heynckes.
Current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola took over the managerial job of the German giants in the 2013/14 season after ending his year-long sabbatical leave from football.
Guardiola won three successive league titles with Bayern Munich in the 2013/14 , 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons before going to England to take the City role.
After the Spanish manager left , Carlo Ancelotti currently in charge of Real Madrid passed through and won the 2016/17 league title.
In the next season even though the Italian trainer started the season as manager of Bayern Munich he departed the club before the season ended and veteran coach Heynckes returned to the club and led Bayern to the 2017/28 Bundesliga honor.
In fact on 13 April 2018, Bayern Munich announced that Kovač would succeed Jupp Heynckes as manager of the club for the 2018–19 season, with a three-year contract lasting until 30 June 2021.
Kovač’s brother, Robert, would follow him to Munich to be his assistant coach. Kovač had a contract with Frankfurt until 30 June 2018 and Bayern had to pay a release clause in his contract reported to be around €2.2 million.
Kovač is just the fourth former player to manage Bayern Munich after Søren Lerby, Franz Beckenbauer and Jürgen Klinsmann.
Kovač was the third Croatian to manage Bayern after Zlatko Čajkovski and Branko Zebec.[41] Kovač officially took over on 1 July 2018 and was presented as the new manager of Bayern Munich on 2 July 2018.
The club won the 2018/29 Bundesliga with Kovac.
The 2019/20 season was the season of Hansi Flick’s prominence in German and European football.
On 1 July 2019, he joined Bayern Munich as an assistant coach, under the management of Niko Kovač. When Kovač left Bayern by mutual consent on 3 November 2019, Flick was promoted to the interim manager position.
In his first match in charge, Bayern defeated Olympiacos 2–0 in the UEFA Champions League group stage on 6 November 2019.[15] After a satisfying spell as interim coach, Bayern announced on 22 December 2019 that Flick would remain manager until the end of season.
In April 2020, Bayern Munich gave Flick a new contract lasting until 2023. Bayern won the treble of the UEFA Champions League , the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal.
Flick won the Budnesliga again in 2020/21 before he left the club and his successor Julian Nagelsmann continyed the dominance by annexing the 2021/22 Bundesliga.
However this season , it is Dortmund , Bayern’s biggest rivals of the Bundesliga that are in pole position to win the Bundesliga and it will be the first time in 10 years that the German champions are not Bayern Munich.
Dortmund face Mainz 05 at Signal Iduna whilst Bayern travel to FC Koln.
