betPawa Ghana Premier League Week 33 : The title race , relegation battle and the Goal King race

Ghana Premier League Week 33 Preview : The 2022/2023 betPawa Ghana Premier League season enters Week 33 this weekend as Dreams FC take on Great Olympics , King Faisal play at home against Legon Cities and Asante Kotoko travel to Accra Lions on Saturday.

But which team will win the league title and represent Ghana in the 2023/23 CAF Champions League and which sides will be relegated from the top-flight?

Who will finish top scorer?

This is our overview of the possible scenarios.

2022/23 Ghana Premier League Table After Week 32 :

1.Medeama SC – 56 points in 32 games

2.Aduana FC – 52 points in 32 games

3.Bechem United – 51 points in 32 games

4.Asante Kotoko – 48 points in 32 games

5.Bibiani Gold Stars – 48 points in 32 games

6.Berekum Chelsea – 46 points in 32 games

7.Samartex – 45 points in 32 games

8.Hearts of Oak – 45 points in 32 games

9.Accra Lions – 44 points in 32 games

10.Dreams FC – 44 points in 32 games

11.Legon Cities – 43 points in 32 games

12.Real Tamale United – 43 points in 32 games

13.Nsoatreman FC – 43 points in 32 games

14.Tamale City – 42 points in 32 games

15.Great Olympics – 42 points in 32 games

16.Karela United – 41 points in 32 games

17.King Faisal FC – 36 points in 32 games

18.Kotoku Royals – 23 points in 32 games.

The Title Race :

If Medeama avoids a defeat at Samartex on Sunday and Aduana lose at Nsoatreman , the Yellow and Mauves will be champions of Ghana for the first time in their history.

If Medeama lose their Week 33 game and Aduana win at Nsoatreman FC , Medeama will still have the chance to win the league title if they can defeat Tamale City at home in their last match of the season in Tarkwa.

Meanwhile Bechem United will hope for results to go bad for Aduana and Medeama and that is only if the Hunters can win their last two games to stand any realistic chance of winning the league.

Another scenario is :  in the event that Medeama draw their final two games , they would have reached 58 points in 34 games. In that case if Aduana are able to win their games against Nsoatreman and and Bechem United , then Medeama and Aduana would have finished the season on 58 points each in 34 games played.

The head to head rule will then apply and it will favor the Ogya Side who have defeated Medeama twice this season. Therefore the Yellow and Mauves must know that they cannot finish the league season with the same number of points as Aduana.

The Relegation Battle :

Kotoku Royals are confirmed participants of the 2023/24 Division One League.

Only a miracle will see King Faisal play in the top-flight next season. Even if they win against Legon Cities on Saturday , they will only reach 40 points and will be still be rooted in the relegation zone.

Faisal’s final match to end the season is a trip to Real Tamale United who are not completely safe from relegation.

Karela United are at home against Gold Stars on Saturday and a win will take them to 44 points and depending on the results of the Great Olympics , Nsoatreman , Real Tamale United and Tamale City games , Karela could remain in the troubled zone or move out of danger.

The Top Scorer Award :

Gold Stars are 5th and safe from relegation and we think Abednego Tetteh would continue his momentum of scoring goals. The former Hearts of Oak attacker lead the chart with 16 goals , just a goal ahead of Hafiz Wontah Konkoni.

We still tip Tetteh to clinch the Goal King award of the season.
