Accra Lions defeat Dreams FC in a 5-goal thriller to cut Aduana’s lead at the top of the GPL table

Accra Lions Defeat Dreams FC in a Thriller : Accra Lions held their nerves to defeat Dreams FC by 3-2 on Monday night at the Accra sports stadium during a Week 21 Ghana Premier League match as Dominic Amponsah grabbed the headlines with a superb brace.

Abass Samlifu Samari , voted Player of the month for February 2023 , earned a penalty and proceeded to score from the spot in the 19th minute to put Lions ahead but Eric Danso Boateng equalized for Dreams with a clever header at the stroke of half time as the first half ended 1-1.

It was the 9th goal of the league season for the influential Lions midfielder who is now second top scorer of the betPawa Ghana Premier League.

In the second half , Abass was once again got involved in the second goal of the home team scored by Dominic Amponsah in the 60th minute. The former was fouled and earned a freekick in the Dreams FC half , Amponsah stood behind the ball to blast into the net of goalkeeper Augustine Koomson who should have done better.

The away team got a free-kick on the edge of the Accra Lions box as Dominic Amponsah handled the ball. Ebenezer Adade netted with a beautiful curled effort to make it 2-2 in the 73rd minute.

Just a minute later , Amponsah ensured he had the last laugh of the night as he beat Koomson again with a terrific long range effort to register his 4th league goal of the 2022/23 season.

Accra Lions held on to win 3-2 and they are now on 37 points at the 2nd place on the league standings ; just two points adrift leaders Aduana FC.
