David Abagna On Target for Al - Hilal in Bahrain

David Abagna On Target for Al – Hilal in Bahrain : Ghana international midfielder David Abagna Sandan was on target for Al – Hilal Omdurman in their 2-1 defeat against Bahrain side Manama Club on Monday night in Isa Town at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium during the second leg of the first round qualification tie of the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup. 

The Sudan giants progress to the second qualification round of the Arab Club Champions Cup with a 4-2 aggregate win.

The goal was the second for the former Black Galaxies of Ghana midfielder since he joined the Sudanese side.

The former Ashantigold , Real Tamale United playmaker netted in the 23rd minute to put his team ahead but the home team equalized through Issa Naji in the 32nd minute via a penalty and then took the lead five minutes later thanks to Ibrahim Al Khatal.

Compatriot Ibrahim Imoro was not part of the match-day squad even though he traveled with the team to Bahrain.

The Sudan giants were hammered 3-0 by Al Ahly in their CAF Champions League Group B decider on April 1st as Ahly joined Mamelodi Sundowns to advance from the group to the quarter-finals.

The People’s Club have no problems domestically as they lead the 18-club Sudan Premier League with 50 points after 19 games as they now seek to reach the finals tournament of the prestigious competition for Arab football clubs.

The team managed by Congolese master trainer Florent Ibenge won the first leg qualifier by 3-0 against Manama on 13th March 2023.

Officially named the 2023 King Salman Club Cup after Salman of Saudi Arabia, where the final tournament will be hosted, the competition is the 30th season of the Arab Club Champions Cup, the Arab world’s club football tournament organized by Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA).

A total of 37 teams are participating in the tournament, which starts with preliminary and qualifying rounds, before the final tournament is held in Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2023 across three cities: Abha, Al-Bahah, and Taif. A total of $10 million of prize money will be awarded.

Raja CA of Morocco are the defending champions, having won their second title in the previous edition.

The club of Ibrahim Imoro and David Abagna will now play against the winner of the CS Sfaxien and Qatar SC tie in the final qualification round.
