Ibrahim Danlad Told to Take a Rest at Asante Kotoko : Whilst former Asante Kotoko General Manager Opoku Nti affectionately known as “Lord of the Green Turf” believes Ibrahim Danlad is still the best goalkeeper at the club ahead of the likes of Frederick Asare and Moise Pouaty , legendary Ghanaian goalkeeper Joseph Carr rather thinks Danlad needs to be benched in order to bounce back stronger.
Danlad , who was part of the Black Stars squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup , has come under fire following his poor performance against Berekum Chelsea where Kotoko lost by 3-0 during a Week 26 league match.
Asare has seen more than enough playing time this season mainly due to the national team duties of Ibrahim Danlad with the Ghana Black Galaxies and Black Meteors teams but Carr wants other keepers to play for now.
“Danlad is a national goalkeeper. He is a very good goalkeeper who ranks among the best two goalkeepers in Ghana but he must rest and allow others keep the post.” , Joseph Carr said.
“I would’ve asked to be benched if I was him to regain my energy and form. He has to rest to save himself from the disgrace of conceding a lot of goals. He is not the only goalkeeper in the team.
I have been a goalkeeper and I have been in his situation before and my advice to him is to rest and come back fresh.” , he added.
Asante Kotoko take on Aduana FC during Week 27 of the Ghana Premier League at the Babayara sports stadium and it remains to be seen whether Abdulai Gazale will keep faith in Danlad or put Asare back in his commencing team for the cracker against the Ogya Side.
