Jordan Ayew Picks Form at the Right Time : Crystal Palace produced a big performance to record their biggest victory of the season with a 5-1 masterclass against Leeds United on Sunday afternoon during Week 30 of the English Premier League and Ghana attacker Jordan Ayew played a major role.
Patrick Bamford scored first for the home side in the 21st minute before Marc Guehi equalized for Palace at the stroke of half time as the fist half ended 1-1.
In the 53rd minute Jordan found space in the box and delivered a powerful header within close range into the left of the goal after a clever lofted pass from teammate Michael Olise to make it 2-1 for the away team.
Eberechi Eze made it 3-1 in the 55th before Odsonne Edouard added a fourth goal in the 69th.
Crystal Palace were not done yet as the Black Stars striker Jordan Ayew scored again in the 77th minute to make it 5-1 for the team of Roy Hodgson.
Ayew netted from a rebound from the middle of the Leeds box and he could have scored a hat trick but manager Roy replaced him with Jean-Philippe Mateta in the 80th minute.
Palace held on to win 5-1 and Jordan had an incredible match and for me this is the best way the Ghanaian can win the trust and confidence of his manager for the rest of the season.
The former Marseille striker came off the bench to provide a brilliant match-wining assist as Palace defeated Leicester City by 2-1 on April 1st with Mateta scoring the winning goal in the 94th minute.
The Ghanaian had replaced the injured Wilfried Zaha in the 45th minute with the score at 0-0.
Ayew went ahead to make great contributions helping his team to win and it was Roy Hodgson’s first game in charge of the side since replacing Patrick Vieira.
The veteran manager was left impressed by the Ghanaian footballer and therefore rewarded him with a starting place in a difficult away match at Leeds United.
With his two goals netted in the 5-1 humiliation of Leeds , Ayew justified why Hodgson selected him to start. His fist goal put Palace ahead for the first time in the match and his second sealed the spanking.
There are eight more matches to end the league season and I think Jordan is picking form at the right time. Palace clearly wants to stay in the top-flight next season. That is the main objective of the new manager and Ayew would be vital.
Palace are now 12th on the EPL Standings with 33 points after 30 games and are safe from the relegation battle of the season for now but they know that they must keep winning and getting good results to be completely free from the relegation zone.
