Sadio Mané has successfully been operated in Austria

Mane Undergoes Surgery : Senegal international Sadio Mane has undergone a successful surgery in Innsbruck , Austria on Thursday after he was ruled out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Bayern Munich attacker got injured on November 8th during a Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen but Senegal head coach Aliou Cisse went ahead to name him in his final World Cup squad exactly a week ago.

However on Thursday , in a massive blow to the Teranga Lions , the Senegal Football Federation confirmed Mane’s forfeiture for the upcoming Mundial that commences this Sunday.

“Sadio Mané underwent successful surgery in Innsbruck by Prof Christian Fink and Dr Andy Williams from London on Thursday evening.” Bayern Munich announced in a statement.

“During the operation, a tendon was reattached to the head of his right fibula. The FC Bayern forward will therefore no longer be available to play for Senegal at the World Cup and will begin his rehab in Munich in the next few days.

Africa’s Player of the Year suffered the injury during the German record champions’ 6-1 win over Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on 8 November.” the statement added.
