Messi Scores Against Saudi Arabia : Lionel Messi scored his first goal of the 2022 FIFA World Cup against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday but the Saudis came from behind to defeat the two-time World Cup winners at the Lusail Iconic stadium.
Messi converted a penalty in the 10th minute to register his seventh goal at the FIFA World Cup finals.
However Saudi Arabia equalized in the 48th minute and took the lead five minutes later.
The Arabs managed by French trainer Herve Renard held on to win 2-1 after the 90 minutes and 8 additional time.
The goal also represents Messi’s 92nd strike for Argentina in 166 international matches.
The PSG forward now has the same number of goals at the FIFA World Cup tournament finals as Cristiano Ronaldo , Luis Suarez of Uruguay and six others.
Ronaldo does not play at the World Cup until Thursday when Portugal take on Ghana.
