The draw of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stages was conducted on Thursday.
Just three Ghanaian players – Mohammed Kudus , Denis Odoi and Fatawu Issahaku – are expected to play in Europe’s flagship soccer competition this term.
Abedi Pele , Ibrahim Tanko , Sammuel Osei Kuffour, Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari are the only Ghanaian players to have won the UEFA Champions League.
Mohammed Kudus
Mohammed Kudus will be one of two Ghanaian players expected to be be seen in Europe’s biggest club competition this season. That is if he stays at Ajax after the summer transfer deadline of September 1st.
The Black Stars midfielder has not started any of the three Eredivisie games Ajax has contested so far this season. He has been heavily linked with a move away from the Dutch giants in search of more playing time.
Abdul Fatawu Issahaku
The former Dreams FC playmaker is on the books of Portuguese side Sporting CP. They are located in Group D alongside Frankfurt of Germany, Marseille of France and Tottenham Hotspurs of England.
Fatawu has made two substitute appearances for Sporting so far this season. When the group stage matches of the Champions League begin , Ghanaians will be looking forward to watch the Tamale boy in action.
