Ghana’s Salis Abdul Samed nominated for Best African Player award in the 2022/23 French Ligue 1

Salis Abdul Samed Gets Big Nomination : On 30th May 2023 , the winner of the 2022/23 Marc-Vivien Foé award will be known and it can be Ghana midfielder Salis Abdul Samed of RC Lens who has had an exceptional season in the Ligue 1 this season.

Andre Ayew is the only Ghanaian footballer to win the award.

The award in honor of the former Cameroon , Lens and Lyon midfielder , is given to the best African footballer in Ligue 1.

The eleven nominees were revealed on Monday. Also on the list are PSG defender Hakimi Achraf Hakimi and Lens teammate of Salis , Seko Fofana who is the defending champion of the award.

Mohamed Camara (Mali / AS Monaco)

Habib Diallo (Senegal / RC Strasbourg Alsace)

Seko Fofana (Ivory Coast / RC Lens)

Achraf Hakimi (Morocco / Paris Saint-Germain)

Chancel Mbemba (DRC / Olympique de Marseille)

Terem Moffi (Nigeria / OGC Nice)

Marshall Munetsi (Zimbabwe / Stade de Reims)

Salis Abdul Samed (Ghana / RC Lens)

Hamari Traoré (Mali / Stade Rennais)

The award started in 2009 as Marouane Chamakh of Morocco and Bordeaux won the inaugural title. The following two seasons Gervinho of Ivory Coast and Lille Metropole won it in 2010 and 2011.

In 2012 , the award went to Younès Belhanda of Morocco and Montpellier. In 2013 it was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s turn to win it as a Saint – Etienne player.
